Following the investigation into an FIR registered at Porompat Police Station, police arrested Nongthombam Jamesjit alias Thoi, son of N. Meghajit and proprietor of Kangla Drugs & Surgical Pharmacy, Naoremthong Bazar, Imphal West, who emerged as a suspected key figure in the network.
Jamesjit was traced to Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and arrested on October 6, 2026. A four-day transit remand has been obtained to bring him to Manipur for further investigation.
The investigation follows the earlier arrest of three individuals along with contraband items on October 4, 2026, in connection with the Porompat PS case.
Meanwhile, based on the disclosure of one of the persons arrested earlier, a joint team of Manipur Police, Central Security Forces and YADAM conducted a search operation at the Oinam Thingel riverbank.
During the search, the team recovered a concealed stock of 52 boxes of CHOCO+ cough syrup.
Each box contained 160 bottles, bringing the total recovery to 8,320 bottles. Each bottle contained 10 mg of Codeine Phosphate.
Further investigation is underway.
