Organised by the Matai Society as part of its quarterly LGBTQ programme, the camp aimed to provide accurate information on HRT, address misconceptions and stress the importance of medical supervision.
Dr. Lourembam Roshan Singh, Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at RIMS, Imphal, discussed the psychological aspects of gender-affirming care and the need for professional guidance. Community experts Laishram Sopin and Adlina Lourembam shared their experiences with HRT and healthcare access.
Discussions also covered gender dysphoria, family support, potential risks of unsupervised treatment and the need to follow medical and legal requirements.
Participants highlighted challenges including lengthy hospital procedures, limited specialised services and the absence of an endocrinologist at Bishnupur District Hospital. Community members appealed for more affordable and accessible healthcare services.
